They currently employ 275 people occupying a 135,000 square foot facility in Sault Ste. Marie. This past year Soo Plastics was named “Worldwide Supplier of the Year” by General Motors.
White Water Associates, Inc. is an acknowledged leader in the fields of analytical chemistry, scientific consulting and environmental education. Located in Amasa, White Water staff projects have received state and national recognition with a research/education program being recognized by the President’s Commission on Environmental Quality.
Sustainable Forest Products, Inc. of Newberry’s primary business is the kiln drying and planning of a variety of hardwood species for use in the furniture and cabinetry industries. In 2000, they added value to an estimated 4.8 million board feet of Michigan hardwood timber that previously was leaving the Upper Peninsula for processing at facilities elsewhere in Michigan and Wisconsin.
Jacquart Fabric Products of Ironwood manufactures truck tarps, boat covers, orthopedic pillows and several other fabric products from their home in the Ironwood Industrial Park. Growth has been steady and strong since they began operations in 1958. They currently employ 72 people and occupy approximately 47,000 square feet of state or the art manufacturing equipment and techniques to meet their growing customer base.
