(This document is 173 pages in length. It identifies key obstacles to growth and development in the UP in the areas of natural resources, higher education, business growth and development, education and workforce development, health care, infrastructure and tourism. And it presents formulated strategies for regional economic and workforce development that are specific, measurable, achievable, and realistic with a timeline. Brief suggestions on how to move through obstacles is summarized in the Executive Summary.)

The Upper Peninsula Economic Development Alliance (UPEDA) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 economic development organization, incorporated in 1999. The membership consists of private companies, utilities and local and regional economic development agencies throughout the Upper Peninsula. The mission of the Upper Peninsula Economic Development Alliance (UPEDA) is to enhance, link and promote the unique aspects of Michigan\’s Upper Peninsula as the superior location in which to invest and conduct business. UPEDA is the primary economic development organization actively marketing the Upper Peninsula for business attraction and retention. Our members work together to share information, provide ongoing education, and support businesses and entrepreneurial growth across the region.
