Hawk Technologies LLC (Hawk) is a small business located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in the town of Hancock. Building upon 30 years of excellence in design and product development, Hawk provides total engineering solutions using first-principles and data-driven approaches.
Since 1987, Hawk has provided our clients with high quality mechanical design and drafting services. In 2007, Hawk leveraged its existing talent and drive for innovation to pursue R&D and product development. This resulted in the development and sale of a non-destructive testing product in 2015, and planted the seed for a culture of creativity and new development to supplement our service to industry.
Hawk gained new ownership in 2020, adding additional experience in research, product development, process development, and manufacturing.

Advanced Precision Solutions (APS) and Independent Machine Company (IMC) are two Upper Peninsula-based manufacturing firms recently brought under the full ownership of Chris Doyle. APS specializes in high-precision CNC machining and assembly, serving a diverse range of industries from engine components to food-service equipment. IMC, founded in 1975, built its reputation on the “Iron Horse Wheel Lathe,” which revolutionized locomotive wheel maintenance, and has since become a world leader in producing locomotive gear cases, pilot plows, and other steel fabrications.
By uniting APS’s advanced machining expertise with IMC’s global rail-industry presence, Chris Doyle aims to expand product offerings, streamline operations, and create additional skilled jobs in the Upper Peninsula. Both companies share a commitment to sourcing American-made materials, delivering top-tier quality, and investing in the region’s workforce—demonstrating that world-class manufacturing can thrive in a rural setting.
